How your age is calculated
Age is not just a number of years — it is the combination of full years, full months and remaining days between your birth date and today. This calculator counts whole years first, then whole months within the final partial year, then the leftover days. It also gives you the total number of days lived, which parents and pediatricians use to track development.
A subtle detail: because of leap years, a year averages 365.2425 days, not 365. Multiplying your age by 365 undercounts by roughly one day for every four years. The exact date arithmetic handles this automatically.
